About this assignment
I am looking for sitters who like walking and are very fond of dogs and who have had dogs of their own/plenty of experience of pet care. I am offering a beautiful four story home by the sea with magnificent panoramic views in return for looking after my two dogs. Portland is very dog friendly and dogs are welcome in the pubs and cafes. Poppy loves going to these places and socialising with other owners and their dogs. Winston is nervous in busy places but is easily comforted and there are loads of peaceful locations and fascinating walks.
Please note I can not accommodate commercial sitters for insurance reasons.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Simply to look after and walk Poppy an affectionate Patterdale terrier who is 12 years old (but still very playful) and Winston (3 yrs) Also to keep the house clean and tidy and water the plants.
Winston is a nervous boy so would need an understanding, experienced sitter but he is very affectionate and warms to people easily.
What are the good features of the property and location
The property is a lovely terraced house on the island of Portland only a few minutes walk from the beach! You have shops and pubs very close by and fabulous coastal walks. The house has 3 bedrooms on 4 floors. It is spacious and light and has fab sea views!
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
It is quite hilly on the island so you need to be quite fit.
Also there are a few flights of stairs in the house.
Can I bring my own pets?

Our stay at Judy’s was wonderful. She has an easy to care for, comfortable home with 2 lovely dogs. It was easy to keep in contact and easy to get around without a car. This house sit was on the Isle of Portland and everything was so interesting. Lots of groomed hikes with pub stops to wet our whistles.

Amazing Housesit with Magical Poppy
From start to finish, this was a dream housesit. Judy's flat in the heart of cosy Winchcombe would have made it wonderful enough (everything you could want is within a stone's throw). But the addition of Poppy--everyone's favorite dog--made it outstanding. Poppy will steal your heart as soon as you meet her and you'll never want to leave. Judy is a wonderful, welcoming, and warm homeowner. Communication was easy and smooth, which is essential during COVID times. She gave us plenty of information about Winchcombe and all the stunning walks around us. She drove us to the train station (and would have picked us up had it worked out with our travel schedule) and even brought us back lovely gifts from her travels. Don't miss this sit!! Ideal village location.
Had a very nice stay in The Loft. Judy was very easy to get on with and supplied comprehensive information. Poppy was a very playful and loveable canine walking partner. The walks available both in the immediate vicinity and nearby villages and country were just indescribable. You have to experience them. Would recommend Judy and Poppy without any hesitation.

Lovely Cotswold apartment.
Very pleasant apartment in a very cute Cotswold Village. Very loveable dog Poppy, who loves walks and tummy tickles. Apartment is above a shop and is opposite a Bakery and a small supermarket which is very handy for day to day supplies. Would recommend and be happy to return anytime. Owner Judy is a very freindly and lovely person.

Another wonderful visit!
Mandy and I were lucky enough to look after the lovely Poppy again. She is such a beautiful little character and the stay at The Loft and our walks across the fields in wonderful Winchcombe were fantastic. I would highly recommend this Sit.

Perfect House Sit
This was my first House Sit and what a fantastic experience! The owner Judy was a wonderful person and 'The Loft' was am amazing place to stay. Set in the main street of Winchcombe, a beautiful Cotswold village it was an absolute pleasure. The other wonderful side to this sit was the beautiful 'Poppy' - a gorgeous Patterdale terrier. We spent many hours roaming the fantastic Cotswold hills together and I was sad to leave her when my time came to an end. If my house sits are all like this I will be extremely happy and will be very happy to return again if I am needed.
