**Arrival date of sitters around mid-March until end of April. We are flexible with start and end dates for this roughly 4-6 week assignment. We will coordinate with house sitters’ travel schedule for exact dates.**
Some Spanish, being 'handy' and adaptable are essential.
A vehicle is not provided so personal transportation is recommended. Secure garage parking on site for sitters' vehicle.
Caring for two easy going, well-mannered female dogs: Quesadilla or Quesi is a 50 lbs. lab/setter mix; Nikki a 25 lbs. charismatic mixed breed; and Squeaks is a shy female indoor cat. Dog walks at beach (leashes not necessary) and brushing for Squeaks, the cat. Provide pets with care, affection, food and fresh water twice daily, and maintain cat litter box. Watering patio garden beds and potted plants with help (2x weekly) from gardener/maintenance man, and house cleaner.
Owner will pay gardener, internet and pool maintenance costs, and purified water is provided. Sitters cover their own basic costs, including food, housekeeping, and personal supplies.
The cliffhouse is set in a beautiful part of coastal Mexico where the Sierra Madre Mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. The laid back agricultural and fishing village of Aticama is one in a chain of friendly pueblos surrounding Matanchen Bay, the northern most part of the Riviera Nayarit (in the municipality of San Blas). The house uses UV/carbon/filter water purification system—very convenient. The all-organic property includes a mango orchard, a few garden herbs and seasonal tropical flowers and fruits including coconut, mango, and banana trees. The 1.5 acre gated property is private, secluded, and positioned 40 mts./130 feet on a bluff above the beach with dramatic ocean and mountain views. A refreshing dip in the pool is a wonderful treat. The dogs sleep indoors, are good company, and love to walk to the long sandy beach of Matanchen. Apprx. 10 minutes walk to beach and town.
House sitters’ bedroom is upstairs with ocean and mountain views, ceiling fan, floor fan. WiFi is included.
**Adaptability essential.
Our home is a vegetarian household and kitchen and we would like to keep it this way. **
*A vehicle is not included—a personal vehicle is recommended. Secure indoor garage parking on site for your vehicle is available in our garage.
*December through April is an ideal to enjoy this home and considered high season for visitors to this beautiful area.*
*This tropical region offers world-class birding opportunities, as well as biting insects, including mosquitos, “no-see-ums”, and gnats—mostly restricted to morning and early evening hours during a new or full moon. Fireflies and cicadas are very much a part of a summer evenings’ sound and magical light show!
*Sitters are responsible for their own basic costs, food, and personal supplies.
Summertime: July through October is monsoon season (it rains primarily at nighttime). Afternoons can be hot, sticky and uncomfortable, however the multi-story house has many screened windows to catch the prevailing sea breeze during the day and fresh mountain air at night, there are ceiling and floor fans throughout the house. Windows have wood shutters which must be closed because of rainstorms. Occasional internet and electrical outages (mostly short lived) are to be expected as a result of severe thunderstorms. Tropical monsoon season is not for the faint of heart!
Occasional electrical outages require resilience. Biting insects abound, and the heat and humidity lasts from July through September and into October. The heat can be oppressive to some so this situation is certainly not for everyone.
*Springtime: April - May/June is dry season with clear blue skies, a pleasantly warm days, cool nights and generally no expectation of rainfall.
November is the end of the tropical monsoon season and the mountains and landscape are all fresh and green.
No, sorry.

Fun pups, astounding beauty and LOTS of mangoes!
We feel incredibly fortunate to have experienced this fantastic three-month house and pet sit! Trilby’s tribe, including three dogs and one cat, proved to be wonderful and fun companions, and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. We loved our daily beach strolls with the three lively and amiable amigos, Bernie, Camote, and Quesadilla, and delighted in Squeak’s (el gato) occasional in-home visits. The pups were entirely well-behaved and affectionate though they readily employed their grounds watching skills when appropriate (no birds allowed near swimming pool!). Squeaks had her shy moments though she seemed to adore company at meal-time along with regular brushing and soft-spoken chats. The hilltop setting of Casa Lima affords spectacularly beautiful vistas from all directions and proved to be a serene sanctuary-of-sorts for us as we moved a bit cautiously during the pandemic. Trilby is lovely in all ways, and after one video interview, we had a strong sense that we had made a lucky match. Communication before and during our sit was excellent, and we greatly appreciated Trilby’s faith in us to keep her pets and home cherished and healthy. We are still missing Trilby’s animal family and hope to return for at least a visit sometime soon!

An exceptional interlude in tropical Mexico
I've now done 5 long term stays on the Pacific coast of Mexico in the last 3 years, and I can easily say that Trilby's house is the most physically grand and the expat community is by far the most interesting I've found. The house sits about 100 feet up on a cliff overlooking the ocean with an infinity pool, drinkable tap water. lush grounds and nearby services. The dogs and cat are good companions. Primi the gardener is relentless. If you are looking for something outside the usual middle class North American retirement condo community in Mexico, this is it. And it is by far the greenest place on the west coast. It reminds me of Jurassic Park at times... without T Rex.
