About this assignment
We are looking for a highly reliable, gentle, tidy, clean couple - genuine cat lovers (ideally cat-whisperers!!) - used to deal with cats. Early raisers/morning persons (= don't wake up too late every day). Non smokers. Keeping an eye on the house plants and water them regularly is required too.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Provide the care required (food and litter) and moments of quality interaction every day to our cat Misu.
Being ok with keeping in touch daily with us via wazzapp messages.
Keep the house clean and tidy.
Keep an eye on plants (watering needed).
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in a beautiful townhouse in a highly historical area of the island of Malta. Close to all amenities (beautiful walks around the harbour, restaurants, ferry to Valletta -the Capital city- and bus terminus just 5 minutes away. Life is beautiful in Malta :)
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The most important feature is being able to provide attention/daily moments of interaction and possibly cuddles to our cat.
The house, being a character townhouse has some stairs between first and second floor (comfortable, not too many) especially to reach the roof so the cat-sitters must be ok with climbing a spiral staircase too.

Lovely Time in Malta
Well this was my second time Housesitting Misu for Sara and Steve, so that, I think. says a lot. The first time was back in 2019 and I have never forgotten how nice that was. Sara and Steve are wonderful hosts, they make you feel completely at home and one of the family. Misu, the cat, however is more reserved and likes to assess his new guardian (s) before making friends. This can take a few days and requires some patience and understanding of his nature but when he accepts you he like to play and be close. Sara and Steve are very caring both to you and naturally Misu, they stay in contact and are always available if you have any questions or concerns. Finally, I would recommend Sara, Steve and Misu without hesitation and hopefully I will see them again in the not to distant future.

A wonderfully easy and beautiful cat sitting experience in Malta
Sara was very responsible and timely in contacting me about taking care of the cat. It was very pleasant, understandable and easy for me to take care of the lovely family pet or bronze cat Misa. Because Sara's family welcomed me with an open heart, accepted me as a welcome guest and created, showed and demonstrated everything very correctly so that the cat and I felt good for 9 wonderful and warm days of October 2023. Sara even helped me with additional information about getting to Malta on time, because I had unexpected obstacles with my flight. Wonderful hosts and cat on fascinating Malta
Our house sit in Malta was greatly enhanced by the warm welcome provided by Steve, Sara, and Misu the cat. Before we started on our journey, we met the three via a video call, with regular updates along the way. Once we arrived in their historic home, nicely located just a short walk and ferry ride away from the capital city of Valletta, they helped us get our bearings. We spent two days with them getting to know Misu’s habits and preferences (he does like a song now and then), and Steve and Sara showed us their local grocery store, where to swim, where to pick up vegetables, and a host of delightful nearby restaurants, generally making us feel at home. Over our stay, it was fun, easy, and quick to take the ferry to Valletta and explore, or to catch a bus to visit the many famous castles, ruins, cathedrals, and other historical sights on the island. Steve and Sara are friendly and thorough communicators, and were easy to keep in touch with when away to answer questions, share stories, and touch base. Misu is a beautiful chatty cat who loves a good brushing, and being an older cat, had some litterbox issues that Steve and Sara are working on. As digital nomads, we were delighted that the had house plenty of space, good WiFi, and lots to see and do during our free time.

A wonderful Maltese Christmas with Misu
We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas and New Year housesit in Malta; Sara and Steve, and of course Misu, their beloved cat, are all lovely, and we were delighted when they invited us to stay. We felt privileged to be trusted with Misu’s wellbeing and appreciated throughout. Communication with Sara and Steve before we arrived and during our stay was easy, they are a very friendly couple and were always quick to respond to any questions we had. Misu is a character, he was very much in charge of the arrangements and once he had introduced us to his routine and his requirements he steadily let us get to know him. Within a few days we were good friends and Misu would come and ‘chat’ to us each morning and evening and even share his Misu dance! We certainly felt we had made a new friend and enjoyed his company. The house is very interesting and in a wonderful location for exploring Valletta and the 3 Cities and beyond, well placed for public transport so no car is needed. We arrived a couple of days early and were made very welcome, Sara cooked us a delicious pasta on our first evening and Steve gave us a tour of the local area. We had beautiful weather throughout our stay but hadn’t realised that central heating is not the norm in southern Europe, however heaters were provided and Sara kindly shared her winter jumpers and we very soon settled in. We would certainly be happy to look after Misu again if the opportunity arose and can recommend this sit to prospective housesitters. We feel we have made three new friends and discovered a new part of the world – a really interesting housesit.

Warm welcome in Malta
We had the pleasure of sitting for Sara and Steven over the holidays. We already knew a lot about their cherished cat, Misu, as they had shared photos, messages and short videos leading up to our arrival. They invited us to come a few days before their departure, so we could all get to know each other a bit more, learn about the house and their area, and most importantly, so that Misu could get to know us while his family was still present. This made for a great handover - Misu took to us pretty quickly and we felt like part of the family by the time Sara and Steven left on their trip. They are great communicators on WhatsApp and quickly responded to any questions we had, as well as continued our enjoyable conversations. Misu is an intelligent, sensitive, and companionable fellow. He quickly trained us in his routine (quite easy, actually) and rewarded us with play, affection, purrs, and his special Misu dance. Sara and Steven's charming house is in an interesting neighborhood, close to restaurants, shops, historical treasures, and a short ferry ride to Valletta, the nation's capital city. Despite regular outings, there is still much to see and do in Malta, so we'll have to return and see our new friends, too! Should you be invited to partake of Sara and Steven's warm hospitality and spend time with the incomparable Misu, say yes!

Misu the cat ...
Sara and Steve were such friendly people, who welcomed us into their home. Misu (the cat) was a pretty easy going puss-cat and loved a pat from us. Staying in such a central location in Malta was wonderful, and we really enjoyed the opportunity to explore a place with such rich history. Sara was really easy to communicate with prior to our arrival. We feel that we have made new friends with Sara and Steve, and hope to welcome them to New Zealand sometime in the future.

Enjoyable time on Malta
Sara and Steven, who live in Cospicua near to Valletta, are like new friends for us. We were made welcome from the moment we met. We spent two lovely days with them before they left, which gave us a good opportunity to learn about all aspects of the housesit and the surrounding area. Sara even took us to the supermarket and showed us a lovely location for hiking at the coast. They provided us with clear instructions and all necessary information and kept in regular contact with us which made it easy for us to do a good job. Misu, their very lovely cat, took a while to accept us, but in the end we became very good friends. Specious house in nice location close to the promenade and the ferry to Valletta.
