Hello everyone! We have a house here in rural Kansas, away from the world. We take trips, and I am fortunate to have a regional airport just a half an hour away. I'm looking for a housesitter for Murphy, my dog. He's on the small end of a large dog (about 75 pounds). He's well trained but bursting with energy often. He'll listen to you, though. (UPDATE: He's 9 years old now and is finally slowing down. He's also stiffer than he used to be (he's now on a daily supplement)).

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Basically just take care of Murphy. I just moved into this house, so other responsibilities may be coming soon, such as tending to a garden or taking care of some backyard chickens, but those projects haven't been started yet. Our back yard is fenced and he has a doggy door into it so you have to do very little work!! Ultimately just feed him and give him water, please!!! You can even leave for little trips if you'd like, if you give him enough water and food.

What are the good features of the property and location

Well, if you enjoy a quiet town and friendly people, you'll love it. You're just a bit over half an hour away from Hays and Great Bend, both have more going on than this little town, including cultural events and things like breweries or live music.

Bison is located within the Smokey Hills region of Kansas. Yes, there are hilly regions of Kansas!! This and the Flint Hills are the big ones. Want more that might surprise you? Go check out the Little Jerusalem Badlands! So, yes, you outdoorsy folks... I'm one of you and I live in Kansas. I'm in the middle of thru-hiking (in chunks) the Flint Hills trail. Yes, that's right, thru-hikes in Kansas. Feel free to use our kayaks while you're here!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This town is not connected to any public transportation that I know of. However, if you are flying into the country I could pick you up from the regional Hays airport.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: He gets along with most other dogs. Cats? Probably not a good idea!
