Someone who will love our animals like their own.
Mau our cat is basically a dog in a cat’s body and will be your best friend the minute you fed him.
This is a short two and a half week house sit but we often leave for months at a time so if it goes well for everyone you are welcome back. With the effects of global warming making an impact here, fire is our main concern. We will have folks who can help with different household issues but we need someone with common sense and integrity. We are honest about everything you will encounter here. And hope you will be honest with us.
We caretake two chickens so you would be responsible for their daily care. Food in the am , then. closing the coop door in the evening and filling their water, They have the run of almost half an acre during the day.
Feed cat, scoop litter box, give any needed medication. Mau can go in and out a cat door but you must make sure they are inside at dark because there are predators about. We have a dog named Panda who like the cat has a doggie door and secure fenced in yard. She needs to be fed, and doggie poo will need to be scooped. She also likes to sleep under the covers so if you don't like animals on the furniture this sit isn't for you. Water a few plants and bring in the mail. Most importantly, we want you to make this your home and make our animals part of your family. Enjoy the quiet and beauty of the mountains and our lovely little town . Thats it!
Beulah is a friendly place. Our cabin is very sweet and has a good energy. It has a beautiful view of the mountains and an outdoor table that is secluded if you want to sit and admire the view. There are deer and wild turkey who visit daily and more than likely you will see a bear or two during your stay here. You may even see a mountain lion or bobcat. The outdoor photos I posted of hiking in the gorge were taken about a five minute drive from here as was the hay field.
The cabin is only 800 sq ft. so no more than two people.
There is a kitchen, with regular size fridge, microwave, stovetop and oven, dining area,, bathroom (No bathtub, just a shower) large living area with fireplace, and a loft with queen size bed, keyboard, guitar, and total gym bench for exercise. The cabin does not have a washer and dryer, but we have a friend five minutes away who is happy to let you come by anytime to do laundry. Otherwise Pueblo has many clean laundry mats.
We don't have cable but have a smart TV with netflix etc.... We have good wi-fi. There is a local library here as well as video rental at the local store. We also have a nice freecycle with clothes and other fun items as well as a book barn where you can find great books for free.
If you like the outdoors there are amazing trails within 5 minutes. We also have a lake to the north and south both about 45 minutes away. We have friendly and helpful neighbors, a coffee shop and a cafe, a local general store, and history center. We have pickle ball, and trivia night,, a local garden club, and book club, as well as several barn dances during the summer. The town of Pueblo is only 25 min away and has many fun attractions.
We do our best to make you feel welcome, and we want our little cabin to feel like home. All we care about is that our animals and you are happy.
A bit about us, I run an animal rescue and my husband and I do a series for BBC on adventure and sustainable living. We are sustainability advocates and this summer will be pedaling a boat around Great Britain highlighting ways individuals are helping the planet. We look forward to having kindred spirits take care of all we hold dear. Can't wait to meet you !
I was a pet sitter for years and only found out the "negative" about a place after living there, but I want you to know in advance about anything not so great, so you can make an educated decision as to whether you want to apply. One strict rule there is no wiggle room on, is that you MUST be a non smoker. No tobacco and no marijuana please . I know the fact that marijuana is legal in Colorado makes a lot of people want to come to visit, but we can't have it around the animals.
If you don't do well in the summer heat, you will not like it here. The cabin is an A-frame and has south facing windows so it can get very toasty upstairs. We have just installed an exhaust fan, which helps and there are two ceiling fans and a window AC as well as a downstairs cooler that works well but this area of Colorado gets hot.
It can also get very windy in the summer and fall which keeps us on high fire alert. Global warming has made its way to our little mountain, even to the point where we have encountered a rattlesnake and the occasional scorpion. We live in the mountains so there is some dust, and you might see the occasional mouse.
If this hasn't scared you off I welcome any questions.
No, sorry.

A lovely place in the country
I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Tammie and Jason’s cabin in rural Co . What a peaceful neck of the woods! Sleeping in a loft with the trees surrounding you creates a peace in your heart . My gracious and generous hosts were a joy to get to know . The cats are adorable and the cabin is eco friendly. I would come back anytime !

Loved Beulah
Tammie and Jason are such lovely warm people, and their pets reflect that. They went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and equipped. And we loved Beulah! It was so quiet and peaceful with great hiking and wildlife everywhere.

Staying in Beulah
Tammie and Jason go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for , I was so happy I took this job. Not only is it in one of the most beautiful and little known areas of Colorado , think escape , but the cabin backs to forest trails and their standards are driven by sustainable living which I really appreciated . Definitely worth visiting and the cats are adorable .
