Hi! My husband and I are travelling to Europe to visit family, so are looking for somebody to stay in our home to take care of our dog, Tigger, and blind cat, Tattie from December 21st 2024-January 5th 2025 (dates may be flexible). We are world travelers, and have been house and pet sitters in the past ourselves. We much prefer having someone in our home to care for our pets while we are gone, especially since Tigger is a nervous rescue dog and doesn't do well in kennels!
Basic tasks - feed, water, play! They both have automatic feeders. Tigger is a rescue (he was dumped on the highway and abandoned in Hawaii) so he takes a few days to stop being scared and trust you, but once he does he will be your best friend and want to cuddle and play. We have a fenced in yard where he loves to play fetch. He is very anxious outside of the home with strangers and other animals, so we usually just advise sitters to tire him out in the yard vs going on walks! Tattie is our sweet blind kitty. She mostly lives downstairs and has a self cleaning litter tray and automatic feeder, so all she needs is treats and to be let in and out. She likes to go outside and explore during the day.
Home on a small cul-de-sac in the countryside with a small town 5 minutes drive away. Beautiful vineyard less than a mile away. A few minutes from the airport. Lots of vineyards, cideries, hiking routes etc. nearby! Only 20 minutes from Charlottesville, 30 minutes to Skyline Drive/Shenandoah National Park. Close to many historic sites such as Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, James Madison's residence, civil war battlefields, etc.
Must be an animal lover and be comfortable around anxious dogs, and willing to be patient for him to become comfortable with a stranger. His ball is his favorite thing, so fetch is a must!
No, sorry.
Testimonials
From a Guest of Tigger & Tatty
I had a delightful time taking care of Tigger & Tatty while Christina & Michael were away. Tigger is a bundle of energy and so fun to play with, and Tatty does not seem deterred by her impaired vision! Tigger is also a great cuddler, but even Tatty surprised me by showing some affection once she warmed up to me. Their home is bright and cozy, with the highlights being Christina's talent for painting throughout. The location is close to so many things to see and do around the Charlottesville area. Overall, a wonderful experience and I hope to come back again sometime! With Gratitude, Chre

Wonderful time!
Caring for Tigger and Tatty for 8 days was a wonderful intro for to the world of house and pet sitting. Christina and Michael made us feel very welcome in their lovely home and their pets were fun to be with and become good friends with. The house and setting are beautiful and very comfortable. Tigger is aptly named because he bounces just like his name sake and is a delight to hang out with. . And Tatty May be blind but she gets around as if she can see just fine. We would gladly care for these fine pets and their home anytime. Thanks for your great hospitality Michael and Christina!

Lovely friendly and generous host with 2 gorgeous, affectionate cats, in excellent location!
Christina was a wonderful host, so friendly from start to finish and she made me feel so welcome in her home. She showed me around Stuttgart, including where to go shopping and really couldn't do enough to ensure I had a great stay. The loft-style apartment was fantastic, in a great central location and I very much enjoyed my time there, as well as in Stuttgart in general. However, the highlight for me were her 2 cats - Sheba and Gremlin, who I absolutely adored and miss greatly. They were so affectionate and gentle, and very easy to take care of. Wishing you well with your move Christina! xx
